A Warwickshire residential property firm has stepped-up to support an expedition to Madagascar.
ehB Residential is sponsoring 17-year-old Alice Hobbs as she jets-off to support villagers living in rural areas of Ihorombe.
Alice will begin her three-week trip with a trek through Isalo National Park before helping to build a fresh water tank and improve living conditions in the rural Bura village, which is on the outskirts of the park.
She will also visit a nearby orphanage where she will organise activities for the children, learn about their livelihood and give support with daily tasks.
ehB Residential, which has offices in Warwick and Leamington, has helped to boost Alice’s £4,000 fundraising target by donating £500.
Alice said: “I’m really excited to start the journey. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a completely different environment and to help provide vital resources to those that live there.
“I really wanted to get involved in the trip to challenge myself and see what I was capable of and to also understand the culture of Madagascar and help the people we meet there as much as possible.
“I have been trying to train and keep fit in preparation for the trek through Isalo National Park and I can’t wait to get started.
“My parents, friends and family have been involved in the fundraising effort and I have also been babysitting and working in my spare time. We even organised a barn dance to raise money for the trip.
“I am really grateful for ehB’s support and their generous donation. It has helped me to achieve my fundraising target and will contribute to the important work we complete throughout the trip.”
Alice will embark on the trip, organised through Outdoor Expeditions, alongside 11 other pupils and two teachers from Chesham Grammar School in Buckinghamshire.
