Agency welcomes ‘happy private landlord’ survey

Thu 16 Aug 2018

A UK wide survey of private landlords showing that 80% of buy-to-let owners are focusing on long term investment, with only a third concerned about the potential impact of Brexit, has been welcomed by Leamington estate agency ehB Residential.

The results, revealed this week, show that 52% of private landlords are positive about owning rental properties in the current economic and political climate, with only 16% taking an opposite view.

The survey revealed that almost two thirds of landlords were planning to hang onto their properties for the longer term, despite the increasing raft of regulations and changes affecting the buy-to-let market.

The survey, conducted by Your Move, gathered responses from nearly 1,100 landlords across the country.

ehB Residential lettings manager Gayl Tallis explained: “It’s encouraging to see that the majority of landlords are confident about the future.

“Legislative changes are making it more complicated for buy-to-let owners to manage their own properties, but there is no need to be put off by this. If they have them properly managed by a reputable, local estate agency – such as us – all the complexity is taken off their shoulders and they can just get on with the business of reaping a return from their investment.

“We take all the hassle away. We have local, knowledgeable, trained staff who handle everything here at our Leamington office – from marketing, to viewings, tenant checks, inventory preparation, ongoing management and accounts. We’re always available to answer tenant and landlord queries – in a real life, non-virtual way.

“With big name employers in the area such as JLR, Aston Martin, National Grid and Warwick University there is a ready market for tenants with established careers who are looking for medium term accommodation – perhaps with their own family home elsewhere in the country or while they are looking for somewhere to buy.”
